Hard Mode is an unlockable difficulty setting in Galerians: Ash that can only be unlocked after completing Normal Mode with a B Rank or higher. When players start a new game, they will be given the choice to play on Hard Mode. Rion will start off with the same stats he had in Normal Mode (1000 HP, AP, and PPEC) but enemies will now inflict more damage to him, making even the most basic of enemies greatly threatening to him. Also, Recovery Capsules can no longer be obtained from defeated enemies so players must converse the limited supply of healing items that are found throughout the game. While enemies no longer drop Recovery Capsules, Bustanor and Breakaron will appear much more frequently after defeating an enemy. When players complete the game on Hard Mode with an S Rank, they will unlock all 10 extra pictures and Level 3 PK Mode.
